Florida Woman Kidnapped, Held in Dog Cage in a Shed

Authorities arrested four people over the weekend and charged with them holding a woman against her will in a dog cage on their property.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the woman escaped Saturday afternoon and ran to a nearby home, where she knocked on the door pleading for help.

Deputies responded to the home and arrested Monica Reed, Damon Tromp, Kevin Holmes, and Cortez Marenzo Bernard Jackson on charges of armed kidnaping and false imprisonment with a weapon. Reed was also charged with aggravated battery with a firearm for pistol whipping the victim, who is expected to recover.

Court documents say the four kidnapped the woman earlier on Saturday to force her to give them information about a stolen item, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

The four bound the woman’s hands and forced her into a car while threatening her with a gun and drove her to the property in Pine Hills, where they forced her into the dog cage in a shed in the backyard, WFTV reported.

Court records show at least two of the suspects — Reed and Jackson — with multiple prior arrests.
