‘A Tragic Accident’: Toddler Girl Dies in Hot Car Parked Outside High School

A 16-month-old girl died on Friday after she was reportedly found in a car parked outside a South Carolina high school.

WCIV reported that the toddler was found deceased at Bishop England High School after passersby spotted the baby alone in the car and broke in. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office said the girl had been left in the car for about eight hours.

WSOC-TV reported that the child’s mother works at the high school.

No charges have been filed. The State Law Enforcement Division and Charleston Police Department are investigating the incident.

According to No Heat Stroke, the 16-month-old girl is the 20th child to die in a hot car this year. In 2022, 33 children died of vehicular heatstroke.
