A 10-year-old Texas girl stopped an assault on her mom on Wednesday when she stabbed the suspect in the leg.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the man was taken to a hospital in fair condition, KTRK reported.

Earlier, @HCSOTexas deputies responded to an apt complex at 540 Richcrest. Preliminary: an adult male was stabbed in the leg. The male was allegedly stabbed by a 10-yr-old child, who intervened after the adult male was physically assaulting the child’s mother. The wounded

“Awful situation for a 10-year-old little girl to witness and experience,” Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. “Children who witness the abuse of their mothers, fathers, or other family members are impacted.”

It wasn’t clear if the child was injured in the incident, or what injuries the mother suffered.

The sheriff’s office is still investigation.
