Florida Driver Tries to Runs Over Man He Believed Was a ‘Convicted Child Molester’

A Florida man was sentenced to probation last week for trying to run over a man who he mistakenly believed was a registered sex offender.

Kinte Franklin, 45, was driving outside an Escambia County liquor store in January when he spotted the victim. Franklin stated, “I’m going to kill you because you are a convicted child molester,” before running over the victim’s legs, according to NorthEscambia.com.

According to court documents, the victim’s wife claimed she heard a passenger in Franklin’s car say, “You just need to run over this mother f**ker you just need to kill him.”

Surveillance footage from Fusion Liquor showed Franklin circling the parking lot multiple times and pulling up to the victim to say something. He was then filmed pulling into a parking spot before backing out and driving forward to repeatedly hit the victim with his car, NorthEscambia.com reported.

Despite Franklin’s claims, records indicated that the victim is not a registered sex offender.

Franklin was arrested in February and charged with felony aggravated battery using a deadly weapon. He eventually pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery.
