Cops Rescue Puppy Suffering From Fentanyl Overdose With Narcan

California police officers saved a puppy this week that was suffering from exposure to fentanyl.

Irvine Police said they arrested two people for narcotics possession at a Walmart in the city. When they check the suspects’ car, they found the puppy showing signs of an overdose.

“Officers gave the dog a dose of Narcan, and she immediately began to recover,” police said.

The puppy was rushed to an emergency veterinarian for treatment, and police say she is is “recovering fully.” The department’s Animal Services Unit will take possession of the dog when she’s released.

Police have asked the district attorney to charge Caleb Aaron Gibson, 29, and Katherine Marylou Menke, 27, with animal cruelty and possession of narcotics.
