10-Year-Old Boy, 11-Year-Old Sister Take Mom’s Car on 200 Mile Joyride

Florida deputies conducted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle on Interstate 75 early Thursday morning and were surprised to find a 10-year-old boy driving the car with his 11-year-old sister in the passenger seat.

The sedan had been reported stolen in North Port, more than 200 miles away from the traffic stop in Alachua, and the children reported missing as well. The vehicle belonged to the children’s mother.

Alachua County deputies contacted the siblings’ mother, who declined to pursue charges. She drove the 3 hours from her home to take custody of the children.
