Ohio Woman, Daughter Arrested After Newborn Found in Trunk of Car

Police in Ohio have arrested a 36-year-old woman and her 19-year-old daughter, charging each with abuse of a corpse.

Court documents say that Basma Abdul Karim Alkelezli put her newborn son into a plastic trash bag and then had her daughter, Hanan Ahmad Al Jabouli, dispose of him, WCMH reported.

Al Jabouli put the bag into a five-gallon bucket and then put the bucket in the trunk of a car in the backyard of their home.

The discovery was made early Wednesday morning when Norwich Township Fire Department medics were called to the home for an emergency. Alkelezli was actively bleeding, and they took her to Riverside Methodist Hospital. En route to the hospital, the medics learned that their patient had recently given birth. When they couldn’t find the baby, they called police.

Hilliard Police officers arrived and searched, finding the baby in the trunk of the car. Officers called the medics back while they attempted CPR.

The medics pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

Hilliard Police said they were still investigating Friday night and that additional charges were possible.
