Unknown Gunman Fires at Houston Family Traveling in SUV

An unknown gunman fired at a family traveling in an SUV in Houston, hitting the driver in the leg and causing him to crash into a ditch.

Houston Police said a suspect in a white Camaro fired several rounds at the SUV on Martin Luther King Boulevard at about 8:30 p.m., KTRK reported.

The SUV’s 28-year-old driver continued down the road after he was shot before making a sudden turn onto Reed Road, where he crashed into a ditch in a construction zone.

His 4- and 9-year-old sons and their mother were unhurt, police said.

Lt. Ignacio Izaguirre said the father was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK. The man told police he didn’t recognize the suspect and that there was no argument on the road that could have led to the shooting.
