Victim Clings to Life After He’s Beaten Unconscious for Accidentally Stepping on Suspect’s Shoes

A Louisiana man reportedly remains hospitalized days after he was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack.

According to WWL-TV, Scott Wagner was in New Orleans on September 24 when he accidentally stepped on the suspect’s shoes as he walked by. The suspect allegedly then punched Wagner from behind and continued to punch him until he lost consciousness.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the victim appeared to be alone and officers could not speak to him to get any information let alone contacts,” police told the news outlet.

The suspect reportedly left the scene with another individual. Though police have not publicly identified Wagner as the victim, his family told WWL-TV that he suffered a traumatic brain injury and he may not survive.

The family claimed Wagner had left his job at Mr. Ed’s Seafood in the French Quarter before the September 24 attack. They also alleged that they called the police 14 times seeking answers and still do not know what transpired that night.

However, New Orleans police told WWL-TV, “Investigators have not been made aware of the family’s request for information.”

Police have released a surveillance image of the second-degree battery suspect and a second person. Anyone with information regarding this incident should call Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
