Virginia Beach Man Arrested for Plans to ‘Abduct and Rape’ Teenage Babysitter

A Virginia man has been arrested and charged with several counts related to his alleged plot to abduct and rape a teenage babysitter.

Court documents say Richard Shusko was found with a backpack containing a loaded firearm, handcuffs, shackles, a Taser, a shock collar, and hood when he was arrested at a Virginia Beach park on August 9, according to WTKR.

The documents also say he “discussed intentions multiple times” with his spouse and bought restraints and soundproofing materials. Investigators say he searched babysitting websites, “planning to abduct and rape a teenage babysitter” and hold her a sex slave.

Shusko, 39, was arrested when an undercover officer posed as a 16-year-old looking for a babysitting job online, police said. When Shusko suggested they meet at Mount Trashmore park, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

He’s now been charged with solicitation to commit rape of a minor, solicitation to commit abduction with the intent to defile, and attempted abduction with the intent to defile. He’s being held without bond.

Shusko’s attorney, Jarrett L. McCormack, said in a statement that his client is “resumed innocent of all charges until he is convicted by a jury of his peers.”

“As of now,” McCormack said, “he is pending a preliminary hearing in the Virginia Beach General District Court.”

Virginia Beach police said they were still investigating Shusko to determine if there are other potential victims.
