Manhunt on for 18-Year-Old Suspect Who Held Woman Captive for Days

Police in southeast Wisconsin are searching for a 18-year-old man they say held a woman against her will for several days.

Yefferson Guzman Rodriguez reportedly held a gun to the woman’s head and “made comments to the victim about willingness to harm law enforcement,” the Whitewater Police Department said in a statement.

Officers surrounded the home and a detached garage when they arrived just before 10:30 p.m., believing Guzman Rodriguez may be barricaded in the garage or the home’s basement. But a search turned up no sign of the suspect, police said they now believe he fled the home as police arrived.

Police also searched homes of people known to Guzman Rodriguez without finding him.

The suspect is considered armed and may be in possession of multiple rifles. He is wanted for kidnapping, false imprisonment, recklessly endangering safety, intentionally pointing a firearm at someone, and disordering conduct.

Police said they have contacted the Whitewater Unified School District and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater police to discuss appropriate security measures during the manhunt.

Investigators did not release any further information about the victim except to say she was an acquaintance of Guzman Rodriguez.
