A California woman allegedly stabbed her 5-year-old daughter to death on Saturday.
According to KOVR, a man called 911 after finding his wife, Mina Nazari, 34, had killed their daughter, Sana Akram, at their Modesto home. Authorities have not yet established a motive.
The Modesto Bee reported that Akram was pronounced dead at the scene. Nazari was also arrested at the scene. Modesto police said another child was found unharmed.
A GoFundMe established for the slain girl alleged that Nazari had been dealing with mental health issues, including depression.
Nazari is facing murder charges, in addition to attempted murder and child endangerment. She remains jailed without bail.
