Murdaugh House For Sale Again as Convicted Killer Seeks New Trial

The South Carolina home once belonging to convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh is for sale – again.

In March, the 1,772-acre Moselle Farm was sold for $3.9 million to Jeffrey Godley and James Ayer.

Now Godley and Ayer are selling a portion of that property for $1.95 million: just the main home and about 22 acres, according to WCIV-TV.

An online listing for the property at 4147 Moselle Road in northwest Colleton County says the 5,275-square-foot house has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths.

The listing describes the estate as “a unique property that has the capacity to offer a buyer many potential uses such as a family residence or compound, equestrian pursuits, hobby farm, or just a weekend retreat destination.”

“Beyond the stately brick columns at the entrance of the property, awaits a long impressive oak-lined driveway leading to a quintessential southern vision of the classic and traditional styled Moselle Estate House,” the listing adds.

Showings require an appointment and prospective buyers must be pre-approved. The estate is approximately 45 miles from Beaufort, 70 miles from Charleston and 75 miles from Savannah.

The property for sale does not include the dog kennels, where Murdaugh fatally shot his wife, Maggie, and son Paul in June 2021.

Most of the proceeds from the first sale went to creditors, but Murdaugh’s surviving son, Buster, did receive $350,000, according to Fox News.

An auction was held before the first sale of the estate in which hundreds of household items from the property were sold.

Murdaugh is serving two life terms in prison after being convicted in March of the murders. He is seeking a new trial based on claims of jury tampering.
