14-Year-Old Boy, Elderly Couple Among Those Killed in Maine Mass Shootings

State officials have released the names of all 18 victims of the deadly mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, earlier this week, and they range in age from a 14-year-old boy who died with his father to a 73- and 76-year-old couple.

Michael Sauschuck, commissioner of the Maine Department of Public Safety, said the families had approved the release of the names and ages but asked that their home towns be left out.

Those killed at the first shooting scene, Just-in-Time Recreations, where bowling leagues were in full swing Wednesday night when Robert Card opened fire just before 7 p.m.:

  • Thomas Ryan Conrad, 34
  • Michael R. Deslauriers II, 51
  • Jason Adam Walker, 51
  • Tricia C Aselin, 53
  • William A. Young, 44
  • Aaron Young, 14
  • Robert Violette, 76
  • Lucille Violette, 73
  • William Frank Brackett, 48
  • Keith E. McNeir, 64

Twelve minutes later, gunshots rang out four miles away at Schemengees Bar & Grille, where eight more people were killed:

  • Ronald G. Morin, 55
  • Peter Brewer-Ross, 40
  • Joshua A. Seal, 36
  • Bryan M. McFarlane, 41
  • Joseph Lawrence Walker, 57
  • Arthur Fred Stout, 42
  • Maxx A. Hathaway, 35

Walker, Bob Violette, Asselin, Brackett, McFarlane, and Vozella were previously identified. Walker was the manager of Schemengees and son of an Auburn city councilman, and McFarlane, Vozella, and Brackett were attending a cornhole tournament at the bar for the local deaf community, as was Seal, a well-known interpreter for the deaf who worked with Gov. Janet Mills’ administration during the coronavirus pandemic. Asselin was a part time employee at the bowling alley, and Violette gave bowling lessons to children.

Sauschuck held a moment of silence for the victims before continuing with the Friday afternoon briefing.
