Wife & 2 Sons Charged in Connection With Dad Found Murdered in Florida Canal

Late last month, the wife and two sons of a Florida man who was fatally stabbed in 2021 were arrested in connection with his murder.

Cindy Rainey reported the disappearance of her husband, David Rainey, 52, who apparently vanished while vacationing in Suwannee. That night, detectives found David Rainey stabbed to death in a canal behind their rented cabin, according to WKMG.

According to WFTS, Cindy Rainey claimed her husband left without his phone, wallet, and glasses after they got into an argument.

Dixie County police said David Rainey had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and placed in the water. Two years after his murder, the victim’s wife and two sons, Bailey and Jack Rainey, were charged with tampering with the crime scene. However, it remains unclear who killed him.

Days after David Rainey’s murder, Bailey Rainey allegedly started a GoFundMe in “remembrance” of his father and to support him and his brother “for their future.” It raised $475.

A motive in David Rainey’s murder was not disclosed. Cindy, Bailey, and Jack Rainey remain jailed without bail.
