1-Year-Old Child Survives Drug Overdose, Man Arrested

A Wisconsin man has been arrested after a 1-year-old child appeared to suffer from fentanyl ingested and needed Narcan before she was taken to the hospital over the weekend.

Sauk Prairie Police officers responded to a call late Saturday afternoon that a child had either gotten into drugs or poison, WMTV reported. Arriving officers thought the child showed signs of a drug overdose, so they administered Narcan and took the child to the hospital.

“Due to the quick response of law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel, the child was able to receive Narcan and survived this tragic incident,” Columbia County Sheriff Roger Brander said in a statement.

Investigators found that adults had been using drugs at the home and found fentanyl, believed to be what the child swallowed.

The sheriff’s office arrested Brady Jensen, 32, on drug charges and one count of neglecting a child. Jensen was on probation for other drug convictions.

Jensen’s bond was set at a paltry $1,000 at his first court appearance. The Sheriff’s Office said more charges may follow.
