Abusive Husband Allegedly Stabs Wife 14 Times in Front of Kids, May Have Fled to Mexico

A manhunt is underway after a Texas mother was allegedly murdered by her abusive husband in front of multiple children, WFAA-TV reports.

Authorities say 34-year-old Hilda Gurrola was killed Tuesday afternoon at her home in Balch Springs, a suburb of Dallas.

Investigators believe Hilda’s husband, 38-year-old Luis Pardo, stabbed his wife approximately 14 times after she told him she was ending their relationship. The attack allegedly occurred in the presence of young children, including one of their own, according to Fox 4.

“I just heard my sister scream four times, and I ran as fast as I could,” Maricela Gurrola, Hilda’s sister, told NBC DFW.

Louis had reportedly grown abusive and controlling, prompting Hilda to leave the home recently with their three young kids.

On the day of the slaying, Louis demanded that Hilda return to the house, where she went with family members to get her belongings.

“He was very upset because she did decide to leave him and he kept begging her ‘just give me one more chance, give me one more chance,’ and she would clearly tell him no,” another sister, Gricelda Gurrola, told WFAA-TV.

Investigators believe Louis stole a pickup truck that was later found in El Paso. Louis, who is not a U.S. citizen, is said to have relatives in central Mexico.

The couple have three children – aged 3, 10 and 12 – who are safe physically. Loved ones are raising money for Hilda’s funeral.
