New York police are investigating after a couple and their 5-year-old son were found dead in a Bronx apartment building on Sunday.

Jonathan Rivera, 38, was found with several stab wounds in a first-floor hallway of the building just after 6 a.m. Officers looked through the windows of a nearby apartment and saw the child, prompting them to break in.

Inside, they found the bodies Kayden Rivera and Hanoi Peralta, 33. All three were pronounced dead on the scene.

Neighbors told WABC that the family was quiet and mostly kept to themselves, while nearby shopkeepers said they frequently came by to purchase items.
