Missing Man’s Body Found in College’s Vent After Complaints of Foul Odor

A body found in a vent at a community college on Sunday has been identified as a man who vanished last month, according to Michigan police.

Jason Thompson, 36, was discovered dead in the ventilation system at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts as police investigated the source of a foul odor. Officials said Thompson was last seen by family on October 25, and he was reported missing to Sterling Heights police on November 1, according to Macomb Daily.

“There is no reason to suspect foul play,” Macomb College police Chief William Leavens commented.

Officials have not disclosed why they believe Thompson was in the ventilation system. Macomb Daily reported that an event scheduled at the Performing Arts Center went as planned.

Thompson’s cause of death remains under investigation.
