5 Dead, Including Suspect and 2 Children, in Queens Stabbing Rampage

A 38-year-old New York man slaughtered four members of his family, including two children, and injured two police officers before he was shot dead by police.

New York Police Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey said police were called to the scene early Sunday morning in Queens by a “young female caller” who said “her cousin is killing her family members,” WABC reported.

Patrol officers arrived at the address and encountered a man in the driveway of the home carrying luggage. He slashed two officers with a kitchen knife before one of them shot him, the New York Times said.

The officers then found an 11-year-old girl on the ground outside the home. She was taken to Long Island Medical Center-Cohen, where she was pronounced dead.

Gordon had set fire to a couch in the living room, keeping officers outside until firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze. Inside, police found three more people dead from stab wounds — a 44-year-old woman, a 30-year-old man, and a 12-year-old boy.

A 61-year-old woman was found inside with multiple stab wounds and was taken to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

The officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the officers were slashed with a typical kitchen steak knife, which was found in the street after Gordon was killed, and they are working to determine if the knife was used on the other victims.

Investigators said that Gordon had a prior arrest for strangulation in another domestic violence incident and was believed to have been visiting family at the home, WABC said.

Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny said the 911 call is being interviewed by investigators.

“At this point, this investigation is still ongoing,” said Kenny.
