Missouri Man Charged in Shooting Death of His 65-Year-Old Father

A 34-year-old Missouri man has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of his father Sunday morning in Kirksville.

Cory Conyers has been jailed on one count each of first-degree murder and first-degree domestic assault and two counts of armed criminal action in the death of Steve Conyers, 65, KTVO reported.

Police were called to the scene at about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday and found Steve Conyers suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was rushed to Northeast Regional Medical Center and died about an hour later.

The son was taken into custody at the scene but not identified until later Sunday when formal charges were filed.

Police said that Cory Conyers has so far been uncooperative. He is being held without bond.
