13-Year-Old Boy Arrested for Plotting Mass Shooting at Ohio Synagogue

A 13-year-old Ohio boy has been arrested for allegedly planning a mass shooting at a synagogue in Canton.

The boy has been charged with inducing panic and disorderly conduct after he allegedly posted  “a detailed plan” on the platform Discord for a mass shooting at Canton’s Temple Israel, a reform congregation established in 1865, WKYC reported.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office said it launched an investigation in September after it learned of a Plain Township boy engaging in “concerning conversations” on the social media platform. The conversations included multiple threats directed at the synagogue.

“We stand by a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to threats made against our community,” said Stark County Sheriff George Maier. “Every threat is investigated thoroughly with the seriousness it deserves. We work diligently to ensure that those responsible are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Protecting our community is a responsibility we bear with the highest level of commitment and vigilance.”

The boy has not been publicly identified and is due in Stark County Family Court on December 20.
