Drunk Texas Man Crashes BMW, Kills Female Passenger Before Breaking Into Home and Falling Asleep

A Texas man is accused of crashing his vehicle while drunk, killing the passenger, and then forcing his way into a home, where he fell asleep.

The tragic and bizarre incident occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday, when authorities allege that Daniel Alexander Rodriguez-Olivares was driving at a high speed and under the influence when he hit a culvert and launched his 2016 BMW into the air, KTRK-TV reports.

The vehicle cleared a 50-foot-wide bayou, but when the car returned to the ground, investigators believe Rodriguez-Olivares lost control and slammed into a tree.

The car then rolled over and landed in the yard of a nearby home on Killough Street.

Police allege that Rodriguez-Olivares made his way toward the house, where he smashed glass and banged on a door. He then allegedly threw something through a window and entered the residence.

The disturbance awoke two adults sleeping in the home and they called 911. Police soon arrived and found Rodriguez-Olivares passed out on a bed.

The homeowners told KTRK-TV that Rodriguez-Olivares was covered in blood and pleaded for forgiveness from his mother.

“What I was scared of was he gets inside and does something to us,” Carlos Suarez, one of home’s occupants, told KHOU-TV. “But when I learned there was an accident, that changed what I was thinking.”

An unidentified female passenger in the vehicle died at the scene.

Investigators believe Rodriguez-Olivares was intoxicated during the wreck. He has been hospitalized in critical condition and faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

“There’s no reason why a sober and prudent driver wouldn’t have stopped after going airborne. This individual does not stop, which leads us to believe that there is intoxication involved,” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. B. Bondurant told KTRK-TV.
