Dad Rolls UTV While High on Drugs, Injures 3 Kids, Including Toddler Who Was Life-Flighted to Hospital

A Utah man was arrested after he admitted to being high on drugs when he rolled his Utility Terrain Vehicle on Christmas day, injuring his 2-year-old son who was riding with him.

Two passesby pulled the toddler from beneath the vehicle and called 911, according to the Gephardt Daily. Emergency medical personnel took him and Jeffrey Wade Livernois, the boy’s 30-year-old father, to a hospital.

The boy was said to be bleeding from the head and was life-flighted to Salt Lake City, KSL reported. No further information was available on his condition.

Two other passengers — the 8- and 10-year-old sons of his girlfriend — suffered minor injuries.

Livernois told officers that he used methamphetamines and marijuana before he got on the UTV with his child but said it had been about an hour since he did the drugs.

“Jeffrey said that they were driving down the road and his driver door opened causing him to slide off the road. He then tried to get back on and rolled the side-by-side. Jeffrey was driving and did not have a seat belt on. The 2-year-old was in the front bench middle seat with a regular seat belt on,” an affidavit says.

The other two children were in the back, both wearing seatbelts.

Livernois was book into jail on Wednesday after his release from the hospital. He was charged with negligently operaing a vehicle resulting in serious injury, two ounts of driving under the influence of controlled substances, and two counts of drug possession. He was given a $7,500 bail.
