Wealthy Massachusetts Family Found Dead in ‘Deadly Incident of Domestic Violence’

A wealthy Massachusetts couple and their teenage daughter were found dead at their Dover home Thursday night in what authorities believe is a “deadly incident of domestic violence.”

The family members have been identified as 54-year-old Teena Kamal, her husband Rakesh Kaml, 57, and their 18-year-old daughter, Arianna Kamal, WBTS reported. The bodies were found by a family member who called 911, Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.

Morrissey declined to say if investigators believe the incident is a murder-suicide but said that a gun was found by the husband’s body.

“I’m led to believe that it’s safe for me to tell you that this is probably a domestic incident,” he said.

The family member who found the bodies reported that they had not heard from the family in a day or two and so went over to check on them, Morrissey said

According to Boston 25 News, the family appeared to be facing financial difficulties. Teena Kamal, who served on the regional board for the American Red Cross of Massachusetts, filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy last year, the station said, listing liabilities between $1 million and $10 million. But the case was dismissed a month after it was filed for failure to comply with court orders.

Weeks after the case was dismissed, the Kamals sold the property where their bodies were found to a creditor listed in the bankruptcy filings for $3 million, although the Town of Dover valued the property at $6.8 million.

According to the Boston Globe, Teena Kamal was the founder of educational tech firm EduNova and her husband was the president. According to British tabloid The Daily Mail, the firm dissolved in December 2021.

Arianna Kamal was a freshman neuroscience student at Middlebury College in Vermont.
