19-Year-Old Arrested for Murder of Georgia High School Football Player

A 19-year-old man has been charged with the death of a high school football player found dead the day before his team’s state championship game last month.

Brandon Smith, 17, was last seen on December 7 and was reported missing two days later, as CrimeOnline reported. Smith’s body was found on December 10 behind a home. He had been shot to death.

Smith played football for Manchester High School, which was scheduled to play for the state championship in their division on December 11. The team’s captains carried Smith’s jersey onto the field at the start of the game, which Manchester lost by one point to defending champion. Bowdon.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said on Tuesday it had arrested A’darius Jashawn Williams and charged him with Smith’s murder. Investigators “determined that Williams shot and killed Smith following an argument,” the GBI said.

Williams is being held at the Meriwether County jail.
