4 Dead, 1 Critically Injured in Hot Air Balloon Crash

A hot air balloon carrying skydivers crashed in Arizona on Sunday, killing four people and critically injuring another.

Police said eight skydivers had made their jump when the balloon hit the ground in Eloy, leaving the pilot and four people along for the ride inside the gondola, KSAZ reported.

Police have no idea what caused the crash, other than “something catastrophic.”

The injured person was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital

Some of the people involved were from out of town, police said.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
