Mom Accused of Strangling 3 Kids With Exercise Band Says She’s Not Guilty

A Massachusetts woman who allegedly killed her three children last year pleaded not guilty to murder charges on Wednesday.

WFXT reported that Lindsay Clancy, 33, remains hospitalized due to concerns she may harm herself. As a result, the judge waived Clancy’s appearance and her lawyer entered the plea on her behalf.

Last January, Clancy allegedly used an exercise band to strangle her 5-year-old daughter, 3-year-old son, and 8-month-old son. The Patriot Ledger reported that Clancy is paralyzed from the waist down after jumping from a second-floor bedroom window in a suicide attempt.

Police said exercise bands were recovered from the home.

Prosecutors claimed Clancy intentionally sent her husband to a CVS so she could carry out the murders. Meanwhile, her attorneys asserted she was experiencing postpartum depression and was overmedicated.

During Wednesday’s hearing, the judge approved prosecutors’ request to get a DNA sample from Clancy. Clancy’s lawyer previously said he would not contest their request for a buccal swab, The Patriot Ledger reported.

An evidentiary hearing is scheduled for March 26. Prosecutors said Clancy has already waived her appearance for that hearing, according to The Patriot Ledger.
