Teen Murder Suspect Escapes Custody at Philadelphia Hospital

Police in Philadelphia are looking for an escaped 17-year-old murder suspect, who had been in jail awaiting trial since he was 14.

Shane Pryor had also been charged with conspiracy and firearms offenses, according to WPVI.

Pryor escaped from an emergency room parking lot at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he had gone for treatment of a hand injury, just before noon on Wednesday.

Police said he was not shackled when he fled. He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, socks, and slides. Pryor is 5 feet 7 inches tall and 180 pounds.

Pryor’s defense attorney, Paul DiMaio, said that Pryor “has always maintained his innocence” and said a judge’s refusal to move his case back to juvenile court in December may have had something to do with his decision to run.

“He may have felt he wasn’t going to get a fair shake,” DiMaio said.

US Marshals said Pryor may be driving a stolen Ford F-150 with PA Tag ZTS-0503.

Police said Pryor is dangerous and asked anyone with information to call 911.
