A woman is in critical condition after she was doused by a “liquid substance” while walking on a sidewalk outside Ala Moana shopping center in Honolulu.

Police said they were called at about 9:15 p.m., KHON reported. The 25-year-old victim of the chemical attack has not been identified, nor has the suspect, a man who fled the scene.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene and provided “advanced life support” before taking the woman to the hospital.

KITV said the attack happened just outside Planet Fitness.

Honolulu police said they are investigating the attack as an attempted murder.
