Elderly LA Man Kills Wife, Adult Children in Murder-Suicide

An elderly Los Angeles man shot and killed his wife and two adult children Saturday night before turning the gun on himself.

A fifth person survived the shooting by barricading themselves in a room and calling 911, WABC reported.

Police were called to the home in Granada Hills just before 7 p.m. Officers forced their way inside when no one answered the door and were met by the witness, who directed them to the woman, in her late 80s, and a man and a woman, both in their 40s. All three had been shot.

The elderly man, also in his late 80s, was found dead in a different part of the house from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“I don’t know how much more terrifying and horrific of a scene it can be when you have four persons that are deceased,” said LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz at a Saturday night news conference. “The only positive point is that you at least have one witness that has survived this incident.”

Police did not identify the suspect or the victims or say how the witness was connected with them.
