The body of a Memphis woman missing since last month has been found along Interstate 22 in Mississippi.

Marshall County authorities said that Kelly Sistrunk, 30, appeared to have a gunshot wound to the head, WMC reported.

The body was found about 50 feet off the pavement, investigators said.

Marshall County authorities were alerted to the location by Sistrunk’s family when they discovered her cellphone pinging to the area, about 55 miles southeast of Memphis.

Sistrunk was reported missing to Memphis police on January 28, but they didn’t issue a city wide alert until Saturday, WHBQ said.

Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said the body was found at about 9 a.m. Sunday morning, according to WREG.

“We met the family out on the west side of town at a location that they had reason to believe through technology means that the person may have been or was,” he said, adding that deputies found the cell phone near the interchange between Highway 7 and I22. With the help of K9 units, they eventually located the body under a pine tree on the edge of a wooded area.

Sistrunk was fully clothed and appeared to have been shot multiple times. Deputies also found items nearby that were collected as evidence.
