Family Looking for St. Louis Man Who Vanished in Kansas City

A St. Louis family is seeking answers about a 19-year-old man who went missing last week in Kansas City.

T’Montez Hurt, a freshman at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, called his grandmother, Tecona Donald-Sullivan, early last Thursday morning from Kansas City.

“He wasn’t sounding right,” th. “Then he sounded terrified and scared.”

Donald-Sullivan said she called Kansas City police, and her grandson was eventually taken to Saint Luke’s Hospital. He was released after a few hours, however, and then taken by a ride share taxi to the Greyhound bus station.

Hurt left his phone in the car when he got out, Donald-Sullivan said, and the bus station was closed. He tried to get back to the car but couldn’t and started walking south from the bus station.

Donald-Sullivan traveled from her home in St. Louis the next day and filed a police report. Officers told her they saw him on traffic cameras Thursday afternoon still headed south.

She spent the day Tuesday at the intersection of 77th and Troost, where Hurt was last seen, handing out flyers.

“I’m all the way from St. Louis and I’m asking for help in your city. I’ve got posters all down Troost,” she said. “I’m going all around everywhere lookin for my grandbaby.”

Donald-Sullivan said she wasn’t going home until Hurt is located.

“We want him at home and if anybody has seen him please help us bring T’Montez home,” she said.

Hurt is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall and 160 pounds with brown eyes and black and red hair and has a tattoo on his right arm, the Missouri State Police said in its missing person report on him. He was last seen wearing a royal blue Price Chopper polo shirt and green sweatpants.

Anyone with information should call the Kansas City Police Department at 816-234-5043.
