Do You Know Him? Sketches Released of Rachel Morin’s Suspected Killer

On Monday, Maryland police released composite sketches of the man they believed killed a woman on a hiking trail last year.

According to WBFF, Hartford County investigators believe Rachel Morin’s killer was in the area days before the slaying. The sketch was finalized after detectives conducted more than 100 interviews and looked into more than 1,000 tips.

No arrests have been made in the slaying of Morin, 37, whose body was found in a drainage ditch on the Ma and Pa trail on August 6, a day after her boyfriend reported her missing.

“He attacked Rachel on the trail and pulled her through the wooded area into this drainage culvert where she ultimately lost her life,” Captain Andy Lane said during a recent podcast about the crime. “The location of the attack was chosen… because those culverts were as close as they were and they provided an area for this person to commit this crime and not be seen by members of the public.”

According to Lane, multiple people spotted someone standing on the wood line in an elevated spot the night Morin was murdered.

DNA from Morin’s crime scene linked her suspected killer to an unsolved home invasion and assault of a young girl which occurred in Los Angeles, California, in March. The suspect in those crimes remains unidentified even after police publicized surveillance stills of him home leaving a Los Angeles home in March.

In that case, Lane said the suspect entered the home and attacked multiple people, including a child. A young family member reportedly entered the room and surprised the suspect before forcing him out of the residence, shutting and locking the door, and calling the police.

The suspect is believed to be 5 foot, 9 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, and is in his early-to-mid 20s. The Baltimore Sun reported that one of the sketches released this week shows Morin’s killer with a red Nike cap like the one he left at the Los Angeles crime scene.

A $35,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Morin’s killer.
