Amber Alert Boy Found Dead in Sewer Drain; Foster Mom Charged With Murder

A 5-year-old boy, who was the subject of an Amber Alert in Ohio, has been found dead in a sewer drain outside Columbus.

Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant said that police in Brooklyn, Ohio, arrested Darnell Taylor’s foster mother, 48-year-old Pammy Maye, who told them where to find the child’s body.

As CrimeOnline reported, Maye’s husband called police on Wednesday and said he believed Maye had killed the boy and fled. Her car was later found in Brooklyn, a Cleveland suburb, two hours later.

Bryant said that Maye was arrested at about 9:30 Thursday night when a business owner reported a suspicious person walking around their building. As investigators interviewed her, they “developed information that Darnell’s body may be in a sewage drain in the 1000 block of Marsdell Avenue in Franklin County,” Bryant said.

Investigators found the boy’s body at about 1 a.m., Bryant said, and the Amber Alert was cancelled. Maye was later taken to a hospital for treatment.

“This is not the outcome that we wanted. But we’re gonna make sure that we do everything that we can to bring justice for Darnell,” she said.

Police had earlier issued warrants for Maye’s arrest on charges of kidnapping and endangering children. She will now face murder charges as well.
