Florida Man Guns Down Dad, Uncle Before Family Vacation

A Florida man has been charged in the shooting deaths of his father and uncle in Largo on Friday.

Wesley Barber, 62, and James Barber Sr., 61, were found shot multiple times at James Sr.’s’ home on Friday. Wesley Barber had traveled to Florida from Kentucky for a family vacation, according to WHAS.

When the brothers didn’t arrive Friday morning, family members sent police to Barber Sr.’s home, where officers saw blood under the front door. They found the two men dead when they entered.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, detectives found surveillance camera audio that captured the murders and identified James Barber Jr. as the gunman.

WTVT reported that family members went to Barber Sr.’s home and saw his car in the driveway with the trunk open. According to the sheriff’s office, the surveillance audio captured gunshots just after 6 a.m., followed by Barber Jr. yelling, “EXPLETIVE you. EXPLETIVE you. Dead EXPLETIVE don’t give a EXPLETIVE, bro.”

Barber Jr., 28, was arrested early Saturday morning when Hillsborough County deputies found him walking beneath the Interstate 275 overpass on Fletcher Avenue.

Barber Jr., who was supposed to stay behind to care for the family dog while the other family members left for vacation, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder.
