Minnesota Man Arrested for Murder of LA Model Found Dead in Her Refrigerator

A Minnesota man has been arrested in the murder of an aspiring model found dead in her downtown Los Angeles apartment last year.

Maleesa Mooney, the 31-year-old sister of Guyanese pop star Jourdin Pauline, was found bound and gagged in her refrigerator on September 12, 2023, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

Mooney’s wrists and ankles were bound and tied together behind her back. The bindings consisted of “miscellaneous electronic cords and clothing items,” according to the autopsy report.

Los Angeles Police said they believe Magnus Daniel Humphrey, 41, is Mooney’s killer, KCBS reported. He was arrested on an “unrelated federal warrant” in Minnesota and is on probation for federal drug convictions.

Investigators have not yet described the connection between Humphrey and Mooney. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has charged him with murder. An extradition process has begun to return him to California.
