Suspect on the Run in Murders of Massachusetts Mom, 11-Year-Old Daughter

Police in Massachusetts have arrested one suspect and are looking for another in the shooting deaths of a Worcester mother and her 11-year-old daughter.

Dejan Belnavis, 27, “should be considered armed and dangerous,” Worcester Police said in a statement. Police did not release information about the second suspect, who has been arrested, saying “details about him will be released later.”

Chasity Nuñez and her daughter Zella were found shot in a parked car in Worcester’s Columbus Park neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, as CrimeOnline reported. They were shot multiple times and pronounced dead at a hospital.

Warrants currently charge Belnavis with armed assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm without a license.

Relatives told WCVB that Nuñez also had a younger daughter who was apparently not with her big sister and mom at the time of the shooting.

“She’s gone, Zella’s gone and her other daughter is without a mother and a big sister,” Tyrae Sims said. “It’s crazy.”
