2 Florida Teens Dead in Seperate Incidents of Guns ‘Going Off’

An 18-year-old Florida man was “playing” with a handgun when he shot and killed another teen last week, police said.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said Reginald Fields, 18, was shot in a parked car on March 1. He was rushed to a hospital but died.

Witnesses said the handgun “went off,” killing Fields, WTVT reported.

Jabarre Burney has been charged with manslaughter in the case, which is still under investigation.

Burney was arrested on Friday.

A week after the first shooting, on the day Burney was arrested, a similar story unfolded in the backyard of a Manatee County home, where a group of teens had been “hanging out” when a gun “went off,” striking and killing a 17-year-old boy, according to WWSB. Police arrested another 17-year-old, Carter Layne, also charging him with manslaughter.
