A toddler was found dead with head and neck injuries in a Brooklyn apartment Sunday night.

New York police were called to the apartment shortly before 10 p.m., WPIX reported. Authorities said the 3-year-old’s mother had left the child with a family friend, a 54-year-old man, who was babysitting.

According to WNYW, the tot boy was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they had a person of interest in custody, and sources told WPIX this was the man’s 29-year-old son.

No charges have been filed, however.
