Police in Florida have arrested a 16-year-old boy and charged him with murder during a robbery.

Cape Coral Police have not said if Thomas Roy Stein is charged in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Kayla Rincon-Miller, who was shot to death Sunday evening during an attempted robbery as she and two friends walked to a fast food restaurant after seeing a movie, as CrimeOnline reported.

According to WINK, at least 15 law enforcement vehicles converged on a home  in North Fort Myers Tuesday night to arrest the suspected killer. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it was assisting Cape Coral Police in the investigation and arrest.

WBBH reported that the area was surrounded for hours and that at one point officers were seen with a breaching tool and loud bangs were heard. Minutes later, officers were seen carrying what appeared to be a rifle from the area.

Rincon-Miller had been at a nearby movie theatre with two friends Sunday night. After the movie ended, they headed to a nearby McDonald’s for food but were stopped when a car pulled up on them, blinding them with its lights. At least one person got out of the vehicle and attempted to rob the girls, and someone started shooting, striking Rincon-Miller in the chest.

The girls said they didn’t know the shooter.
