Alabama Daycare Workers Charged With Abusing Toddler Girl

Two Alabama daycare employees were arrested this week on charges of abusing a toddler in their care.

Tanya Teresa Lapsley, 56, and Wanda Hearn Henderson, 63, are each charged with aggravated child abuse, AL.com reported.

The two women were employed at Milestone Academy & Childcare in Montevallo, about 35 miles south of Birmingham.

Charging documents say Henderson “forcibly jerked, pulled, snatched, slung the 2-year-old victim around causing bruises and marks while having custody of her inside the daycare facility.”

The documents accuse Lapsley of largely the same behavior, saying she “forcibly pulled, jerked, snatched, and tugged at the victim leaving marks and bruises.”

The incidents took place on February 13, the documents say.

Lapsley and Henderson were booked into the Shelby County Jail on Thursday on bonds of $180,000 each.
