A 68-year-old New York woman is in stable condition after a horrific attack on the front steps of her church that was captured on surveillance video.

The video shows the woman, identified as Irene by a family friend, walking down the street to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Queens at about 8:30 Sunday morning. When she gets to the top of the stairs, steps from the front door, a man who had been following her rushes ahead and shoves her backwards down the tile steps.

The man rummages through he belongings and takes her purse, with her car keys and cell phone inside, then made off in her 2006 Nissan Altima, leaving the woman on the street.

Police said they found the abandoned car about 3 1/2 miles from the church — and recovered a fingerprint from the car. Police sources told WABC they have a name for the suspect.

Daniel Coffaro, a close family friend, told WABC that Irene is recovering from a fractured skull and a black eye.
