Pennsy Man Who Pulled Gun on Pastor During Church Service Charged with Murder After Body Found in His Home

A Pennsylvania man charged with attempted murder after he pulled a gun on a pastor in the middle of a church service on Sunday has now been charged with murder.

Police were investigating after Bernard Polite, 26, was seen on Jesus’ Dwelling Place’s livestream stepping in front of the camera and pointing a gun at Pastor Glenn Germany, who dove for cover as Polite’s gun jammed, as CrimeOnline reported.

A deacon leapt over a railing and tackled him to the ground, soon joined by Germany and another man. They wrestled the gun away from him and held him until police arrived.

Hours later, investigators found the body of 56-year-old Derek  Polite at the home he shared with Bernard Polite. The two men were cousins, The New York Post said.

Allegheny Police Superintendent Christopher Kearns told WTAE the murder charge was filed late Tuesday night.

“It appears the victim was shot while walking up the stairs from the first floor to the second floor,” Kearns said.

The gun used to kill Derek Polite was the same gun Bernard Polite used to take aim at the pastor Sunday morning, police said.

Investigators have not determined a motive for either incident.
