Tot Boy Dies, Found Unresponsive at ‘Dangerous’ Park Known for Drug Activity

An investigation is underway in California after a 1-year-old boy died on Wednesday after being found unresponsive at a park.

Los Angeles County police responded to Courson Park in Palmdale about a toddler having trouble breathing. KNBC reported that the boy was found in a car with his father before he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials have not disclosed how the child died, but LASD Lt. Michael Gomez said there is no sign of foul play. Gomez also said the father is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, residents told KABC that the incident started inside the car.

“Next thing you know the cop gets the dad out of the way and starts doing CPR as well, and pulls the kid out the car, puts him on the floor, and completes doing CPR on the kid,” a bystander said.

Neighbors who spoke with KTLA said the boy and his father live in an apartment complex across the street from Courson Park. Officials have not publicly identified the deceased boy.

A source told KTTV that investigators are looking into whether the boy overdosed at the park as it is reportedly known for drug activity.
