Mom Tried to ‘Sacrifice’ Tot Son Before Drowning Him in Fountain & Shooting 9-Year-Old Daughter Dead

Missouri prosecutors have provided more details about what led up to a woman killing her two children last month.

On May 28, Ashley Parmeley, 36, walked into the Festus police station and confessed to killing her 9-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son, as CrimeOnline reported. A probable cause statement which claimed that Parmeley confessed to driving around in St. Francois County before stopping on the side of a road and fatally shooting her daughter, PEOPLE reported.

Police said Parmeley tried to kill her son in St. Francois County before shooting her daughter, according to WEAU.

Parmeley reportedly had both children in the car when she realized her son was still alive. She then drove to the Timber Creek Resort in Jefferson County, where she allegedly drowned the toddler in the pool of a water fountain.

People reported that cops found Parmeley’s daughter with multiple gunshot wounds in the trunk of her car, while her son’s body was discovered in the water fountain at the resort.

According to WEAU, Parmeley told police that she tried to “sacrifice” her son before killing both of them. She allegedly also admitted to holding her son underwater for four to five minutes.

In Jefferson County, Parmeley was initially charged with second-degree murder for her son’s slaying. However, that charge was later upgraded to first-degree murder.

Parmeley was also charged in St. Francois County with first-degree murder regarding her daughter’s shooting death. She has not yet entered a plea.
