New York authorities reportedly identified two persons of interest after a body was found mutilated in a shopping cart on Monday.
The handless and toothless body was discovered burning in a shopping cart under a bridge in Yonkers. The victim is believed to have been killed at a home in the Bronx where human hands were found in a bleach-filled crockpot and feet in a freezer, according to WNBC.
Law enforcement sources told the news outlet that surveillance cameras filmed two men pushing the shopping cart containing the body. A high-ranking official allegedly revealed that police have also reviewed footage showing a man pushing a shopping cart onto a Metro-North train in the Bronx. According to WNBC, the shopping cart in that video resembles the one found burning under the bridge on Monday.
WNBC reported that police also recovered a firearm and drug paraphernalia at the home where the feet and hands were discovered. It is unclear what led authorities to that residence.
According to WABC, the victim’s teeth were knocked out to delay identification further. The medical examiner is in the process of identifying the victim and determining their cause of death.
