Three California foster parents pleaded guilty on Thursday to multiple child abuse charges involving nine children, including six of the Turpin siblings, who were rescued from a “house of horrors” situation in 2018.
Marcelino Olguin pleaded guilty to three counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14, and one count each of child endangerment and false imprisonment, KABC reported. His wife Rosa and his daughter Lennys pleaded guilty to child endangerment and false imprisonment.
The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office said that Marcelino Olguin will likely be sentenced to seven years in prison and register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. His wife and daughter are expected to get four years probation.
The 13 children of David Allen Turpin and Louise Anna Turpin were rescued from their home in Perris, California, in January 2018, after a then-17-year-old daughter stole a cell phone from the house and called for help, as CrimeOnline reported. The children were found inside the “foul-smelling” home, many of them shackled in chains to filthy beds.
Their parents were convicted and sentenced in 2019 to 25 years in prison for the torture and abuse of the children.
The older Turpin children, as adults were able to live on their own, but the younger ones were put into the foster system. Five of them were placed with the Olguins.
Investigators said the Turpin children were confined to their rooms with doors equipped with chimes to alert the foster parents whenever they entered or exited. Marcelino Olguin was accused of sexually touching the children dozens of times, and “forced kissed them and pulled a minor on top of him.”
Several of the younger children have filed civil lawsuits. The Olguins, who were arrested in 2022, return to court for sentencing in October.
