Jodi Huisentruit: Tip Sparks New Search in News Anchor’s 1995 Disappearance

A recent tip reportedly led investigators to Minnesota in search of an Iowa news anchor who has been missing since 1995.

Mason City, Iowa, police Chief Jeff Brinkley told FindJodi.com that their department worked with Minnesota law enforcement to investigate a lead in Winsted. FindJodi.com — a website dedicated to the disappearance of KIMT news anchor Jodi Huisentruit — said officials searched a construction site there weeks earlier.

In an October 21 article in the Herald-Journal, Iowa authorities confirmed that local and out-of-state authorities searched Grass Lake Farms Third Addition in Winsted on October 18. The spot is under construction as an apartment complex is being built.

Huisentruit, 27, was reported missing after she failed to show up for work at KIMT in Mason City. Police went to her apartment complex and located her vehicle in the parking lot. Beside her car were a pair of women’s dress shoes, a bent car key, a blow-dryer, a bottle of hair spray, and earrings.

According to Bring Me The News, neighbors reported hearing a woman scream the morning Huisentruit vanished.

Though a partial palm print was found on Huisentruit’s vehicle, no suspects have been charged. Huisentruit was declared legally dead in 2001.

Officials have not provided specifics regarding what led them to the construction site in Iowa. It is unclear whether any more searches are planned.
