A woman and her toddler daughter were found dead in their apartment early Friday morning, and the woman’s brother has been detained for questioning.
A family member flagged down police officers shortly before 3 a.m. outside the west Houston apartment complex. They were met by a man who had blood on him and found the woman and her daughter dead inside the apartment, KHOU reported.
The man, later identified by his mother and by investigators as the victims’ brother and uncle, was taken in for questioning.
The woman is said to be between 25 and 30 years old, and her daughter between 2 and 4.
Police said they were called to the apartment earlier in the evening for a disturbance but didn’t say what the resolution of that call was.
Joanna Fisher, mother of the suspect and adult victim and grandmother of the toddler, said she reported issues with the son last weekend, when he “came home on a rampage” and she “put him out.”
“I put his a** out,” she said. “He threatened the whole family to kill.”
Fisher told KPRC she thought he’d got laced drugs at a nearby park, causing him to go on his deadly rampage.
A neighbor who asked not to be identified told KHOU the disturbance woke him up.
“It’s kind of like they were screaming and kind of arguing. It sounded to me like people were drunk coming in after Thanksgiving, you know, celebration somewhere,” the neighbor said. “But it was loud. You know, everyone was kind of either yelling at each other or yelling for somebody.”
